Work continues at The Potting Shed, a long-abandoned estate building within a private property in the Vale of Glamorgan. After decades of disuse and being gradually overtaken by surrounding woodland, the structure is now steadily being brought back to life through careful and sympathetic conservation.
Site Clearing & First Phase Restoration
The first major milestone has been the clearance of the overgrown woodland, allowing full access to the building for the first time in decades. With the site opened up, our team has begun addressing the deteriorated fabric of the structure.
Brickwork Repairs & Rebuilding
Much of the original brickwork had suffered from long-term neglect. We have now completed significant areas of brick restoration and rebuild, ensuring the walls are structurally sound and ready for the next phases of conservation. All work is carried out using traditional materials and methods to remain faithful to the building’s original construction.
Roof Reconstruction in Progress
The roof — which had almost completely failed — is currently being rebuilt to match its original historic form, with traditional detailing that reflects the building’s period character. This will secure the structure and allow internal works to accelerate.
The Potting Shed is already beginning to look like the building it once was, and there is much more to come as restoration continues. We look forward to sharing the next stages as this forgotten estate building is gradually restored to its former charm.
