We’re making fantastic progress at Walnut Tree Cottage!

The site for the extension has been fully levelled, with strip foundations now dug and the concrete successfully poured – an exciting milestone as the new structure begins to take shape.

Inside, the internal demolition is complete. This process was carefully monitored by an archaeologist to preserve and document the cottage’s historic features. As part of the work, cement render was removed from the walls, along with plasterboard that had covered the original stud partitions.

The highlight of this phase? Uncovering a stunning inglenook fireplace – hidden for years, now revealed. While it will need careful conservation (the beam has been cut through and the stonework requires attention), it promises to become a truly spectacular focal point of the cottage.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to blend thoughtful restoration.
